A huge fire has erupted in the same neighbourhood as a suspicious blaze in April and firefighters are battling to get it under control.

The roof of a residential home on Blair Road in Glen Waverly, east Melbourne, was seen collapsing in dramatic footage captured on Thursday afternoon.

Fire and Rescue Victoria were called to the single-storey weatherboard house at 1:30pm and remain at the scene.

It is unknown what caused the fire to erupt at the three-bedroom house which comes just months after a similar incident on the same road.

The house sits within walking distance of both Glen Waverley Secondary College and a shopping mall.

On April 21 firefighters were called to a 12 mertre by 15 metre single-storey weatherboard house which was set alight under suspicious circumstances.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Fire and Rescue Victoria for more information about the April fire.
