Serial Killer Suspect Rex Heuermann’s Family Working with Peacock on Documentary

The wife and children of accused Long Island serial killer Rex Heuermann have joined up with Peacock for a documentary on how they’re coping with the aftermath of his arrest for the murders of three woman found dead and buried along Gilgo Beach in 2010.

Deadline said that some reports indicate they’re being paid upwards of $1 million for their participation, but Peacock, the streaming service owned by NBCUniversal, declined to comment on payment.

Asa Ellerup, Heuermann’s wife, and his daughter Victoria Heuermann and stepson Christopher Sheridan have reportedly sold the rights to their life stories, Deadline said. Heuermann’s attorneys are also reportedly receiving payments for the documentary.

Ellerup filed for divorce just days after her husband was arrested, but her attorney, Robert Macedonio, said it was done to protect the family’s assets in case any of the victims decided to sue Heuermann, as CrimeOnline previously reported. Last month, Heuermann signed the couple’s dilapidated home over to his wife, presumably to protect it from victims as well.

Ellerup visited Heuermann in jail, and her attorney said she intended to attend all hearings and the trial shortly after local outlets reported seeing her with camera crews earlier this month.

After Ellerup attended a hearing last week, Macedonio said it was his “understanding” that she doesn’t believe he is guilty of the murders or is “capable” of committing them, CBS News reported.

Heuermann, 60, has pleaded not guilty to the murders of Amber Lynn Costello, Megan Waterman, and Melissa Barthelemy.
