Three teenagers have been charged over allegedly lighting a bushfire in New South Wales last month.

Police began investigating the allegedly deliberately set fire after emergency services were called to a blaze at Peel Reserve, The Ponds, in Sydney’s northwest, on October 23 at 7pm.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW before any nearby homes were damaged.

Three teenagers were arrested at 11am Friday aged 14, 14, and 16, and were taken to Riverstone Police Station.

All three were charged with intentionally causing a fire and being reckless as it how it spreads. They were also charged with shoplifting.

The 16-year-old was charged with an additional possessing an unauthorised pistol.

They have been granted strict conditional bail and will appear in children’s court on November 28.
