Florida police officers arrested an 18-year-old convicted felon for shooting his 20-year-old brother during a dispute over a video game console.
The shooting took place Thursday morning while officers were still in the parking lot of the apartment building, where they’d been called over the disturbance between Jalynn Joseph and his brother, the Sebastian Police Department said.
After investigating and determining no crime had been committed, the officers had gone back to their patrol vehicle and heard a gunshot. They saw one of the brothers fleeing the apartment, followed by the brothers’ father who was shouting that the fleeing suspect had shot his brother.

The officers gave chase and eventually apprehended Joseph in nearby woods, with the assistance of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. They also recovered a firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Joseph was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand theft of a firearm, and resisting arrest without violence, jail records show. He’s being held on a $655,000 bond.
The brother, who was not identified, was hospitalized in critical but stable condition. TC Palm said the brother is 20-years-old and was shot in the chest.
