Carlton & United Breweries’ Gold Coast brewery had an emergency evacuation after reports of ‘stinging eyes’ led to fears of chemical fumes.
More than 100 staff were evacuated from the Yatala site, in the city’s north, at about 7am on Thursday after staff began complaining about a strange ‘odour’.
Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services attended the scene following ‘a report of fumes’.
One male worker was taken to Logan Hospital in a stable condition and at least one other staff member was assessed by paramedics at the scene.
Fire crews at the brewery, which is the biggest in Australia, conducted atmospheric testing for possible chemical fumes.

‘About 7am, the Yatala brewery was evacuated following workers complaining of stinging eyes and an odour,’ a CUB spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia.
‘Despite some of our employees suffering sore eyes, and some having received treatment, they are now safe and well.’
On Thursday afternoon, CUB advised the brewery had re-opened after fire crews found the cause of the issue.
‘QFES has investigated the source of the problem and have advised that it has not emanated from our Yatala brewery site, but somewhere external,’ it said.
‘QFES has now given clearance for the brewery to re-open. The brewery recommenced operations before 1pm.’
