Who is Emily Hampshire?
Emily Hampshire is a Canadian actress. She was born in Montreal, Quebec in the 1970s.
The budding actress moved to Toronto when she was just 16 years old to pursue film and television roles.
Before her big break in the CBC comedy series Schitt’s Creek, which ran from 2015 to 2020, she appeared in a number of Canadian and American movies and TV shows, including the 1998 rom-com Boy Meets Girl and the Syfy drama series 12 Monkeys.
Hampshire also used to do voice acting, voicing the characters Alyson Malitski in Braceface, Diana Barry in Anne of Green Gables: The Animated Series, and Misery in Ruby Gloom.

Despite her longtime acting career, only two of Hampshire’s past relationships have been confirmed and publicized.
In 2006, Hampshire married Matthew Smith, a former soccer player from the US.
Smith later went on to become a Hollywood agent at the William Morris talent agency.
In a 2009 interview with The Star, Hampshire said: “He always wanted to be a sports agent like Jerry Maguire.”

The two ended up splitting right before Hampshire auditioned for Schitt’s Creek.
Smith officially filed for divorce in January 2015 after nearly 10 years of marriage.
On August 30, 2018, Hampshire confirmed she was dating singer-songwriter Teddy Geiger.

Geiger came out as a trans woman in October 2017.
Hampshire posted a photo of the two on Instagram, captioning the post: “Just me & my girlfriend” along with a few emojis.
The lovebirds got engaged in November 2018, but unfortunately, the engagement didn’t last.

In May 2019, Hampshire came out as pansexual in an Instagram post.
In a June 2021 interview with Us Weekly, Hampshire reflected on her past breakups.
She said: “I think what’s kind of great about heartbreak and breakups and stuff like that is I can see now in any of those, the amount of therapy I invested in after that changed me into the person I am today.”
She added: “It was all worth it. You grow.”
As for any future relationship plans, the actress was quick to point out that: “I might never want to be in a relationship again…Why would I ever want to be heartbroken?”
