I was in one of the 90’s biggest bands but ended up getting sued by famous politician over an on-stage rant

THE Italian Prime Minister is suing the rock-star Brian Molko.

The Every You Every Me singer, 50, left the politician, Giorgia Meloni, furious after he had a rant about her – whilst performing at the Sonic Park festival in Stupinigi, outside of Turin.

Brian even branded the Italian Prime Minister a “racist” and a “fascist”.

Stating his thoughts to around 5,000 festival-goers, Brian could be heard exclaiming: “Giorgia Meloni, piece of s***, fascist, racist.”

According to reports, prosecutors are now investigating the musician.

This is due to Italy’s criminal code, which states that those who publicly defame the government, parliament, or the army can face fines.

Despite Brian asking the crowd to not record his statements, a video of the incident has since circulated online.

Now, Giorgia Meloni is battling the rock-star with legal repercussions.

The outburst happened in July and since, the group – which has sold 11M records worldwide – went on to perform in in Sassari, Italy, at the start of August.

In 2017, the band (currently made up of Brian, Stefan Olsdal and Steve Forrest) made headlines as they auctioned off a jaw-dropping collection of items.

Including more than 300 items and featuring pieces by Vivienne Westwood and David Bowie, the group had a huge clear out to raise money for charity.

They did so to mark their 20th anniversary and to support Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) and The Mercy Centre, Bangkok.

Their auction even included Brian’s iconic ribbed jumper from the Pure Morning video.

It also featured a Without You I’m Nothing CD single ft. David Bowie, signed by the late singer himself, and a Vivienne Westwood jacket worn by bassist Stefan, during the band’s 1999 BRIT Awards performance.
