Huge 90s band reunite on stage for first time in 12 years after frontman’s ‘psychotic breakdown’ and drug battle

HUGE 90s band Creed are set to reunite on stage for first time in 12 years after the frontman Scott Stapp’s ‘psychotic breakdown’ and drug battle.

The group – originally made up of Scott Stapp, Mark Tremonti, Brian Marshall and Scott Phillips – teased a reunion back in July and weeks later confirmed the news that all their fans wanted to hear.

Creed are due to perform at the Summer of 99 Cruise Festival in April next year, which consists of two separate sails.

Week one, between the dates of April 18 to April 22, will see Creed perform on route to the Bahamas from Miami.

They will be joined by the likes of 3 Doors Down, Buckcherry, Tonic and Verical Horizon.

Between April 27 and May 1, they will travel from Port Canveral to the Bahamas.

It comes over a decade since they performed on stage together.

Creed were first together between 1994 and 2004.

They reunited in 2009 and stayed together until 2012.

Over the years they have released four studio albums including My Own Prison, Human Clay, Weathered and Full Circle.

Some of their best songs include One Last Breath, Higher, Are You Ready? and With My Arms Wide Open.

Frontman Scott Stapp, real name Anthony Flippen, has had his struggles in the past.

He battled a drug and alcohol addiction in 2004 and had contemplated suicide a year prior.

Scott had a psychotic breakdown in 2014, but was diagnosed with Bipolar a year later.

Speaking to ABCNews, Scott said: “I was so out of my mind, delusional, turned on everyone that I loved, made wild and crazy accusations about my wife.

“I thought I was being followed by the government, I mean, it was a manic paranoid, psychotic episode.

“I was driving around with … a 12-gauge shotgun in my lap. And I thought that people were trying to kill me.

“I would have like, maybe a 45-second interval of, ‘What’s going on,’ and then I’d be right back into the psychosis.”
