A North Carolina couple claimed their 14-year-old daughter was aboard an American Airlines flight last month when a flight attendant recorded the girl in the bathroom by taping a phone to a toilet seat.
The unidentified couple said they were flying from Charlotte to Boston, Massachusetts, on September 2 when a male flight attendant allowed their daughter to use the first-class bathroom as it would be quicker. The attendant said he was going to use the bathroom first to wash his hands before telling the teen the seat was broken, according to WCVB.
The girl’s father claimed the flight attendant told her daughter, “We’re going to fix it when we get back to Charlotte. Don’t worry about it.”
The girl reportedly used the bathroom — only to then notice an iPhone attached to the toilet lid by a red sticker reading, “seat broken.”
According to the news outlet, the teen took a photo of the toilet to show to her mother. Her mother reportedly went to that bathroom, but the phone was gone by then.
“I mean, he approached her while she was waiting for the bathroom. He walked her up there. He went right in before her and then right after her,” the father said.
The father said the flight attendant’s face “went white” when he showed him the picture of the phone affixed to the toilet seat. The father claimed the attendant then explained that he had never seen anything like it, according to Fox News.
The family explained to the other flight attendants what transpired, leading to them informing the captain. Authorities got involved once they arrived at Boston airport.

Detectives reportedly showed the 16-year-old a phone which she confirmed was the one she saw in the bathroom.
A first-class passenger who was aboard the September 2 flight told Boston 25 News that their story was in line with the girl’s father.
It is unclear whether the American Airlines flight attendant will be criminally charged. The family told Fox that they have not heard from the airline in regards to this incident.
