They are known as presenters of one of the top-rated shows on Australian television.

But even daily viewers may not recognise them from these adorable childhood throwback photos from the 70s and 80s.

The breakfast TV hosts unearthed the images as part of Child Protection Week, driven by the Australian Federal Police.

One photo features a young girl beaming for the camera while showcases her signature blunt bob-cut and fringe hairstyle that is similar to her present look.

She wears a white turtleneck top layered with a pink collared dress while holding up a small trophy with both of her hands.

The image of the platinum blonde young boy shows him wearing a Dunk Island T-shirt as he sports a toothless grin while feeding a small goat inside a farmhouse.

The stars in question are none other than Natalie Barr and Matt Shirvington, co-hosts of Channel Seven’s breakfast show Sunrise.

Nat, 55, and Shirvo, 44, were instructed to unearth a childhood photo of themselves on Wednesday’s show as the AFP calls on Australians to aid against child abuse and assist in solving cases involving children.

As part of a new campaign, My Pictures Matter, adults are encouraged to submit a photo of themselves as a kid.

Shirvo only recently took on the role of Sunrise co-host, with his first day in the chair on Monday, June 12, alongside his co-host Natalie.

The former Olympic athlete replaced David Koch, who stepped down this year after more than 20 years in the top job.

Meanwhile, Nat took on the role back in March 2021, replacing Samantha Armytage who had been co-anchor since June 2013.
