4 dead in 3 NYC collisions — including 2 in fiery crash on Staten Island Expressway

At least four people are dead from three separate collisions on Big Apple streets Sunday – including a fiery crash that killed two 22-year-olds and left the vehicle they were in unrecognizable.

The carnage on the road concluded around 11:15 p.m. Sunday when a 22-year-old man smashed the Chevrolet Corvette he was driving into a guardrail on the Staten Island Expressway while traveling east, police said, noting the information was preliminary.

The young driver and his female passenger, also believed to be 22, were both killed at the scene, police said.

The Corvette was totaled and charred from an apparent fire following the impact, according to footage from the scene.

It was the second deadly crash on Staten Island Sunday after a motorcyclist collided with a turning pickup truck around 3:30 p.m., police said.

At approximately 11:00 p.m., firefighters responded to the Staten Island Expressway at exit 14 for a double fatal crash on the east bound lanes on Sep. 3, 2023.
