Our triplets just turned 1 — we went through more than 6,200 diapers

It’s a three-ring circus.

One year after the birth of their identical triplets, Caitlin Hammerton, 22, and her husband, Jake, 23, are revealing what it takes to keep their brood happy and healthy.

Thea, Lily and Esmae were born on Aug. 25, 2022. Their UK parents say they have gone through 6,240 diapers and 30,924 ounces of milk, which amounts to 3,436 bottles.

“I was not expecting the nappies and bottles to be that high — I had to double check multiple times!” Caitlin told SWNS.

The couple say they spend about $140 a month on diapers, milk and wipes — and they do eight rounds of laundry each week.

Despite the chaos, Caitlin and Jake couldn’t be happier with their bundles of joy.

“I expected the last year to be very stressful, but because they are so good and have each other to play with, it’s been really nice to see them grow up and crawl,” Caitlin shared.

She and Jake weren’t planning to get pregnant and had used contraception, but on Valentine’s Day in 2022, they found out they were expecting.

The idea of becoming parents became even more exciting just two months later, on Jake’s birthday in April, when the couple learned they were having triplets.

Doctors were shocked, as it’s quite rare — naturally-conceived triplets only occur in one of every 10,000 pregnancies, according to Hillcrest Medical Center in Oklahoma.

Once Caitlin went into labor, they were once again stunned.

Doctors had told them they were expecting boys — and three girls arrived by emergency caesarean section.

“I don’t think it’s still settled in that we had girls instead of boys, let alone having three kids in general,” Jake told SWNS.

Even so, the couple — who wed in March — has learned to adjust to life in threes.

“It’s difficult, but we are only ever used to having triplets, so it’s hard to compare what it would be like to parent a single child,” Jake explained.

“It’s been very busy, and it’s different because every time you go to the shop you get stopped, on holiday you get stopped, and you can’t do anything with someone asking a question.”

Caitlin reports the triplets have just started pulling themselves up to stand, and they love spending time with their grandmother, too.

Recently, the family celebrated the triplets’ 1st birthday with a party.

And, as they’ve grown up, Caitlin said her favorite thing about her daughters is seeing them smile.

“When you go in in the morning and they’re smiling and they’re babbling with each other and trying to get into each others cots, that’s the best thing about being a parent,” she gushed.
