An Oregon man who was sentenced in January to time served for killing four females between 1983 and 1993 reportedly died last month.
Homer Lee Jackson III, 63, was found dead by his sister at his Portland home on July 18. Police said his death is not considered suspicious as he weighed between 75 and 80 pounds due to a recent illness, according to KPTV.
His death comes months after he pleaded guilty to the murders of Tonya Harry, 19, Angela Anderson, 14, Latanga Watts, 27, and Lawauna Triplet, 29. All four victims — who were sex trafficked — were strangled or asphyxiated, police said.
Arrested in 2015, Jackson received time served for the six-and-a-half years he spent in prison and three years of probation. The Oregonian reported that a plea deal was offered due to detectives’ illegal questioning of Jackson and a state Supreme Court ruling that prevented prosecutors from presenting crime scene evidence.
Prosecutors sought to argue that DNA found at one of the crime scenes linked him to the other three slayings. A confession made by Jackson was also suppressed due to flaws in the investigation, according to the news outlet.

Jackson was also tied to the 1983 slaying of Essie Jackson. Though the charges against him were dismissed, he was still considered a suspect.
