If you show up, you better pay up — at least, that’s Kelly Ripa‘s rule when Mark Consuelos decides to crash her girls’ trips.
On this morning’s pre-taped episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, Ripa told Ryan Seacrest — who was filling in for Consuelos — about the time her husband showed up on her girls’ trip to Mexico and how she forced him into footing the bill.
The admission came as the co-hosts chatted about an article that claimed the key to marital happiness is the 2-2-2 rule — which is when a couple goes on a date night every two weeks, a weekend away every two months and a week away every two years.
“Again, I think this means a week away from each other,” Ripa joked, before revealing that she’s currently in the process of planning a girls’ trip with her friends. “I have to do it at work because if Mark gets wind of it, he will show up on the girls’ trip.”
She continued, “I’m like, ‘Hi. Operative word here is: girls’ trip. Notice how the other spouses are also not here.’”
When Seacrest asked if it had ever actually happened before, Ripa confirmed that it had. However, she defended her husband’s decision to pop in since he was living in Vancouver by himself at the time while filming Riverdale.

“He showed up for one day of the trip,” she explained. “But then I said to him, ‘You get the bill.’ And he’s like, ‘What do you mean?’ And I go, ‘You show up on a girls’ trip as a guy, you get the bill. Those are the rules of girl hunger games. You get the bill.’”
Despite the expensive caveat for men showing up on a girls’ trip, Seacrest said he’s “looking forward” to his invitation to the next one — which, of course, piqued Ripa’s interest.
“Yeah, I know, us too,” she slyly replied. “We’re picking someplace really nice. We’re thinking about renting out the entire White Lotus place.”
When the American Idol host suggested they stay for a week, she pointed his way and quipped, “Uncle Daddy’s picking up the bill.”
