A ‘self-governed’ citizen who refused to undergo a random breath test in New South Wales on Monday will front court next month.
Glen Short filmed the interaction, which has since went viral, where he argued with a Wollongong Highway Patrol Officer, on the side of a busy highway.
Assistant Commissioner Brett McFadden condemned the actions of the man, who allegedly fled the scene after the tense argument.
“These individuals hold unconventional and legally unsupported beliefs,” McFadden told 2GB’s Ben Fordham .
In the video posted to social media, Short refused to hand over his licence, before the officer warned him that could be arrested.
After several minutes, he allegedly drove away.
“During the course of the interaction, what the video doesn’t show, is that the driver left the scene and our officer was diligent in identifying the driver,” McFadden alleged.
Officers caught up with Short about 1.30pm yesterday, where he was given court attendance notices.
They related to a number of offences including; failing to produce a licence, failing to provide breath test, resisting police and the execution of their duty, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving whilst suspended.
Short will appear before court on September 25.
