A recall notice has been issued for a fire blanket sold at Supercheap Auto over fears it doesn’t work.

The woven glass fibre fire blanket does not comply with the mandatory standards.

Product Safety warns the blanket may fail to control or extinguish a fire.

“There is a risk of serious burn injuries and/or property damage if the fire blanket does not control or extinguish a fire,” the recall notice stated.

“Immediately stop using the product.”

Buyers can return the fire blanket to any Supercheap Auto for a full refund.

The product was sold nationally both in stores and online.

It was available for sale from August 2018 until December 2022.

The fire blanket has a product code of 562939, a product number of SCA100 and a model number of MF100.
