As The Guardian reported, Julian Sands went missing in the San Bernardino area in January and wasn’t found until six months later. During this time, weather conditions were terrible in the area, with heavy rainstorms. It seems this might’ve played a part in the fact that the “A Room with a View” actor’s death was regarded as “undetermined” by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, per People. An officer from the department shared that the cause of death was ruled as “undetermined due to the condition of the body” and that “this is common when dealing with cases of this type.”

While it’s unclear as to what exactly caused Sands’ death, the actor always knew the dangers of hiking. In 2020 he told The Guardian about a close encounter with death during one hiking adventure. He shared, “In the early 90s, in the Andes, caught in an atrocious storm above 20,000ft with three others. We were all in a very bad way. Some guys close to us perished; we were lucky.” But this scary experience never stopped him from doing what he loved, as he was “happiest” when “close to a mountain summit on a glorious cold morning.” Although Sands’ death is incredibly tragic, he will forever be remembered as an adventurous spirit who pursued all his passions.
