The car caught fire while a customer was ordering food at the Eagleby restaurant shortly after midnight on Sunday.

Fire crews extinguished the blaze coming from the BMW’s engine, before any damage was done to the building.

“Crews on the ground did a great job to quickly react and get water onto the fire and get it quickly under control,” firefighter Sean Johnston said.

It’s believed the fire was the result of a mechanical fault.
