Suspect Steals Forklift from Lowe’s, Runs Over Woman With It at Home Depot

New details have emerged after a Maryland man allegedly stole a forklift Sunday from a home improvement store, then ran over a woman who had been sleeping in her car.

The incident took place early Sunday morning on July 2, as CrimeOnline reported. Witnesses told Charles County Sheriff’s deputies that someone broke into a Waldorf Lowe’s home improvement store in the 2500 block of Crain HighwayWaldorf, and made off with a forklift.

The forklift was found less than a mile away in the parking lot of a Home Depot off Jefferson Farm Place, where deputies found it parked atop the body of 73-year-old Gloristine Pinkney, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say that Bryce Caleb Timothy Brown, 20, rammed the forklift into Pinkney’s car for “unknown reasons.” Pinkney got out of her car and tried to flee on foot, but Brown reportedly chased her down and ran over her.

“After pursuing leads, detectives were able to positively identify Brown as the suspect,” police said.

Pinkney was found dead at the scene, while the suspect fled the scene in her vehicle. Police found the car near the suspect’s home.

“This is absolutely a tragic story. It’s bizarre. We don’t know why the suspect did this, we’re still trying to figure that out. I don’t know if we’ll ever get an answer. The victim wasn’t doing anything but sleeping in her vehicle,” Charles County Sheriff’s spokesperson Diane Richardson told WRC-TV.

“There is no evidence that the victim and suspect knew each other. This appears to be a random attack.”

Brown has been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, assault, and theft. He was ordered held without bond.
