The boy’s father told authorities the child tripped on the sand and fell down.

When the man went to help his son up, the dingo jumped on the boy’s back and bit him on the buttocks.

The boy was taken to hospital by boat, along with his parents.

He suffered puncture wounds and scratches.

It’s the latest in a spate of attacks involving dingoes – also known as wongari – on K’gari.

Rangers have warned tourists to not feed or otherwise approach the animals, which are capable of doing serious damage.
