The ‘non-food grade poppy seeds [were] found to have re-entered the supply chain’, the government body warned.

The affected product was confirmed to have a best before date of June 25, 2024.

‘This product was previously recalled in November 2022, but Coles has identified that some units of the product were purchased from their stores in recent weeks,’ NSW Health said.

‘This product is not safe to consume and people who have purchased this recalled batch of poppy seeds should throw it out or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.’

The same Basfoods product was recalled in November 2022 as well in both Woolworths and Coles after the presence of a highly toxic chemical was found in it.

Thebaine had caused a slew of food poisinings in those that had accidentally eaten the poppy seeds before they were recalled.
