Last week, an Ohio judge set bond at $1 million for a man who allegedly broke into a home and sexually assaulted a toddler girl.
On June 16, a Piqua resident called 911 and reported that an unknown man was sexually abusing her toddler daughter in an upstairs bedroom. The Dayton Daily News reported that Jesse Hartman, 34, fled the scene but was apprehended 12 hours later.
According to WHIO, the mother told the 911 dispatcher that she chased away the suspect who took off on a bike. She said she went to check on her daughter because she was supposed to be asleep but she overheard the bed moving.
“I don’t know how in the world he even got into my house,” she said during the call.
WHIO reported that Hartman has been charged twice with public indecency. He is currently on probation for a 2022 public indecency conviction.

Hartman pleaded not guilty to rape and burglary. He is due back in court on June 28.
