Two months after he was allegedly stabbed while on a work break, paramedic Steven Tougher’s wife has given birth to their baby girl.
Lily-Mae Stevie Tougher was born on Thursday, weighing 4.1 kilograms and measuring 48 centimetres in length, NSW Ambulance announced on behalf of the baby’s mother, Madison Tougher.
“Madison and Lily-Mae, and big brother Kobi, are doing well and the extended family is very excited,” NSW Ambulance said on social media.

“Madison reports her labour and birth were peaceful and calm, just like Steven’s personality.”

Steven died in mid-April after he was allegedly stabbed while on a break at McDonald’s in Campbelltown.

Friends, family and dignitaries remembered him as compassionate, brave, selfless and hardworking.

He was posthumously awarded a National Medal of Service and a NSW Ambulance Long Service and Good Conduct Medal at his funeral.

Paying tribute to her husband at the service, Madison made a vow to her “forever love”.

“Today I vow that our two beautiful children will always know what a selfless, hardworking, kind, compassionate person you were,” she said.

“They will forever understand how their dad was a hero who helped people through the most painful and sickest times.

“Through the many and wonderful stories I will share about their dad, I know I will not be alone in loving you forever.”

The funeral also included heart-warming moments of humour, examples of Steven’s caring personality going back to childhood.

“[He gave] handmade first aid kits to families in the street Christmas party, no wonder we could never find a bandaid,” Jeff Tougher said in a eulogy written with the help of Steven’s mother Jill.

“We also discovered that he had put flyers in peoples’ mailboxes saying ‘if you need first aid call Steven’ at the age of about eight.

“His compassion was as big as his heart and his bear hugs were something to be experienced, there’s nothing like a Steve hug.”

Jordan Fineanganofo, 21, has been charged with the paramedic’s murder and is due to face court later this month.

Madison asked for privacy and said she’d share a photo off Lily-Mae “in due course”.
