A man has been charged after what is alleged to be 50kg of cannabis was found in the back of a van in New South Wales.

The white van was allegedly speeding down Rakow Street in Broken Hill when NSW Police pulled the vehicle over.

There was what is alleged to be 50kg of cannabis was found in the back of the vehicle inside large sealed bags, estimated to be worth $250,000 in street value.

The male driver, 31, and two female passengers allegedly ran from police into a nearby cemetery.

The man from Adelaide was found and arrested a short time later.

He has been charged with supplying a prohibited drug in a commercial quantity, possessing a prohibited drug and escaping police custody.

The two female passengers are still on the run, with police appealing for public assistance.

They are described as being 30-40 years old and of Asian appearance with back long hair.

One was wearing light-coloured pants and top while the other was wearing white pants and a back top.
