A 15-year-old boy has been arrested after a woman was stabbed and left fighting for her life in hospital.
The woman, who is in her 20s, suffered serious injuries after being stabbed in Melton Mowbray around 6.30pm today. She was taken to hospital for treatment and remains in a critical condition.
Preliminary investigation indicated the woman and the teen had been involved in a fight outside a home on Discovery Drive. It is unclear what the dispute was about.
Leicestershire Police have confirmed they arrested the boy but did not say what he was suspected of doing. He remains in custody.

Detective Inspector Jim Heggs said in a statement: ‘The investigation is very much in its early stages and officers are continuing to speak to residents in the area where the incident occurred.
‘However, I would ask anyone who saw what happened or has information that could help to come forward. I would particularly urge anyone with mobile phone, doorbell or dashcam footage to contact police.
‘Anything you can provide, no matter how insignificant you think it is, could assist us.’
