Myer CEO John King will leave his position and return to the US next year, the company has announced.
In a statement, the Myer board said King would depart in the second half of 2024 for family reasons.

King joined the company five years ago and is credited with Myer’s “Customer First Plan” to which in turn is attributed to a record sales result and Myer’s “best profit result in nearly a decade” in the first half of the 2022-23 financial year.

“When I leave Myer next year, I will do so knowing the business has a great team of people and a bright future,” King said.

“I am proud of what we have achieved so far with lots more to do, so it will be a busy year ahead.”

Myer chair JoAnne Stephenson thanked King for his “extraordinary contribution” to the company.

Myer will launch a “thorough” local and international search for King’s replacement.
