Valerie Loureda first rose to fame as an MMA fighter, but she recently stepped away from fighting and decided to pursue a career in the WWE.

“I have now become the first Cuban-American woman, and I am now a WWE superstar,” Loureda told Ariel Helwani. “I’m excited, and I’ve dedicated my whole life to martial arts, and everything has come to this moment. And this is my opportunity to showcase my culture and entertain the world.”

Trying to hold back tears, she continued, “I’m emotional because I’ve worked hard my whole life. I’ve had a tough upbringing, and every day, I’ve always just believed in myself and trained hard, hoping to make it to the next step and just chasing a dream that I’ve had in my heart since I was a baby.”

Now, she is showing off her support for the Miami Heat as she sports a Miami basketball jersey while still showing off her body.

Loureda thanked the Bellator executives for believing in her after she announced she would be leaving the UFC, saying, “Scott Coker and Mike Kogan, Rich Chou, they believed in me when I was 19. My first professional fight was without shinguards at the Mohegan Sun. They were opening a main card. They allowed me to open a main card. They allowed me to brand myself, build this platform, and be me.”

She continued, “Now, I’m making this transition, and my mind has shifted, but I know what I’m going to do in the WWE.”

Valerie Loureda then opened up about how Ronda Rousey helped her get into fighting, admitting she was a true inspiration.

“I never watched MMA before in my life, and just so happens, Ronda was fighting, and I saw a beautiful woman fighting in a cage … and I got goosebumps,” Loureda admitted. “I said, ‘Nana, if she’s doing that, I can do it too,’ and that’s really what gave me all that fire and passion inside of me to begin my martial arts journey.”

Now that Loureda is in the WWE, she aims to fight Ronda Rousey. “She tweeted the other day ‘Who’s next?’ and before I even found out I was getting a contract with WWE, I tweeted back, ‘me,” she said. “That’s the goal I have one day.”
