Suspects in Shooting Death of 6-Year-Old Kansas City Boy Arrested in South Dakota

Two suspects in the murder of a 6-year-old Kansas City, Kansas, boy earlier this month were arrested 350 miles away from the scene Tuesday night in South Dakota.

Lakevis Sloan, 20, and an unnamed 17-year-old were taken into custody as they stepped off a Greyhound bus in Sioux Falls, KMBC reported. They face second degree murder charges for the shooting of Sir’Antonio Brown, who was shot to death in his front yard on May 3.

The Kansas City City, Kansas, Police Department said that the FBI assisted in the arrest. A third suspect, police said, remains at large.

“We want Sir’Antonio’s family and our community to know that we are not slowing down the pace of this investigation,” KCKPD Detective Mark Bundy said. “Somebody out there knows who this third suspect is and where he is. Now is the time to make the call. Don’t wait any longer because we will arrest anybody and everybody who is housing or covering for this child killer.”

The 6-year-old was shot in a drive-by shooting while he was playing in his front yard. Family members believe the shooters — three of them, wearing masks — were targeting a family member and knew there were children outside. The shooters fired dozens of shots, police said, striking and killing Sir’Antonio.

Kansas City, Missouri, police later found the car used in the shooting, WDAF said.

Last week, the Wyandotte County District Attorney charged 18-year-old Cassandra Sledge with obstructing prosecution in the case.
