An explosion at an alleged meth lab rocked a normally-quiet suburban street, leading police to arrest a man wearing a hazmat suit.

Images show officers escorting the barefoot 31-year-old outside a property at Canley Vale, in Sydney’s south west, on Thursday, in handcuffs.

Fairfield City Police Area Command executed a search warrant at the home after being notified of an explosion in the area.

The man was discovered inside the house and arrested.

He was placed on a stretcher but refused to be taken to a hospital.

NSW fire and rescue crews and paramedics were also at the scene.

A crime scene has been established at the property.

Specialist officers from the State Crime Command’s Drug and Firearms Squad’s Chemical Operations Team are investigating.
