‘He’s a Broken Man’: Alex Murdaugh Denies Killing Wife, Son in Jailhouse Letters

Former South Carolina lawyer Alex Murdaugh has allegedly written letters from jail in which he continues to deny killing his wife and son in 2021.

Murdaugh’s friend told The Messenger that Murdaugh admitted to financial crimes in the letters but he remains adamant that he did not fatally shoot Paul and Maggie Murdaugh. The friend went on to describe Murdaugh as a “broken man.”

“He’s trying to make amends for the financial crimes he admits that he committed, but he insists he did not kill Maggie and Paul,” the friend told the news outlet.

In March, Murdaugh received two consecutive life sentences for killing Paul and Maggie at the family’s property in Colleton County. He has appealed his convictions. He is still facing a slew of charges for allegedly defrauding his former law firm and a slew of clients.
