Van Cleef & Arpels unveils a garden of bejeweled delights for 2023

“All things seem possible in May.” Edwin Way Teale, the nature writer and photographer, perfectly captured our eternally sanguine, heart-fluttering love affair with spring.

So, too, does a new garden of gleaming delights from French luxury jeweler Van Cleef & Arpels.

The maison has introduced four new jewels to its Lucky Spring collection for 2023, including two delicate pendants, a bracelet and a charming between-the-finger ring.

With motifs of pretty plum blossoms and bold ladybugs, the pieces are encircled in sparkling rose gold, a symbol of endurance following a long winter.

“Since its origins, Van Cleef & Arpels has drawn inspiration from the vitality of flora and fauna,” Nicolas Bos, the company’s president and CEO, tells Alexa. “Spring is a season the maison holds dear. With the Lucky Spring collection, we celebrate this period of renewal and express the maison’s poetic world through a vibrant selection of stones.”

Indeed, the line’s floral elements are hewn from subtly iridescent mother-of-pearl and fine gold pistils. Meanwhile, ladybugs — one with wings flung open as it takes flight from a pendant and the other perched upon a ring with wings closed, gazing upon two blooms — are crafted from fiery red-orange carnelian and lustrous black onyx, playfully studded with rose-gold dots.

These new pieces expand the Lucky Spring range, originally launched in 2021, as well as two touchstones for Van Cleef & Arpels: nature and luck.

The ladybug, in particular, is emerging as an enchanting new emblem for the storied house, alongside flowers, garden fairies and four-leaf clovers.

The collection makes an elegant companion to VCA’s Two Butterfly line (including a dazzling lapis and diamond between-the-finger ring, seen above), which similarly celebrates joyful garden creatures — and the good fortune they might bring to both new blossoms and their wearers.

Lucky us.
