Take That fans raging over Coronation concert as major star is replaced by BGT contestant

TAKE That fans were left raging over the Coronation concert as a major star of the band was replaced by a BGT contestant.

A number of performers including Olly Murs, Katy Perry, Nicole Scherzinger took to the stage at Windsor Castle on Sunday night to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles II.

Take That also showed off their singing skills to celebrate the historical event.

Gary Barlow, 52, Mark Owen, 51, and Howard Donald, 55 took to the stage to perform some of their biggest hits from over the years.

But TWO times during their stint in front of the crowd, Gary hinted that there were going to be two special guests – and fans were CONVINCED that it was going to be ex-member Robbie Williams.

The first time around he announced that Robin Schulz was joining them, and then the trio were joined by Britain’s Got Talent star Calum Scott.

Many took to Twitter to share their disappointment.

One asked: “Where’s Robbie?!”

“Take That taking me back to my yooth in the living room. The song needed Robbie though,” a second tweeted.

A third added: “Shame Robbie couldn’t join Take That on stage for the occasion tonight.”

A fourth chimed in: “Anyone else secretly hoping Robbie appears on stage?”

Meanwhile others shared their love for the band.

Another added: “Love you so much guys!!! You were absolutely amazing! @takethat

“Aw, can’t help but feel a bit proud to be British after watching the coronation concert. Love a bit of Take That,” a sixth tweeted.

Take That, who shot to fame in 1990, was originally made up of Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen, Jason Orange and Robbie Williams.

Five years later Robbie decided to leave the group, meanwhile Jason left in 2014.

Take That were active between 1990 and 1996, they reunited in 2005.
