Princess Diana fans remember ‘real queen’ on King Charles’ coronation day

Fans of Princess Diana remembered the late royal on her ex-husband King Charles III’s coronation day.

“The real Queen of Great Britain will always be Diana #CharlesIII #Coronation,” tweeted one person alongside a gallery of photos of the former Princess of Wales.

“The Queen we never had. What a sad sad story. The Queen of all our Hearts. #Coronation,” tweeted another alongside a beautiful photo of Diana.

“princess diana is the only real queen today and everyday,” wrote a third person.

However, one royal watcher pointed out that Diana would likely not have had any interest in the event had she still been alive.

“Nah. She’d moved on,” tweeted a dissenter. “She would be sipping a cocktail without a care. She would not have been petty like half of Twitter. She would love her son, the Heir of the throne, and supported her family. #facts#coronation.”

Photographer Misan Harriman, who is close friends with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, also shaded the royal family by referencing Diana on Charles’ big day.

He posted on social media a photo of Prince Archie gazing at a pic of his late grandmother.

“Wishing you the happiest of birthdays Archie,” Harriman captioned the photo, not so subtly pointing out that the young prince’s 4th birthday coincides with Charles’ coronation.

Charles and Diana had a tempestuous marriage that was marred by vicious arguments and infidelity by both partners, including the monarch’s longstanding affair with his now-wife, Queen Camilla.

The late Princess of Wales died in 1997 at age 36 in a car accident.

Two years before her death, Diana ominously predicted that she would never become Queen.

“Do you think you will ever be Queen?” British journalist Martin Bashir asked her at the time.

“No, I don’t, no,” she responded.

“I’d like to be a queen of people’s hearts, in people’s hearts. But I don’t see myself as being queen of this country,” she added. “I don’t think many people would want me to be queen. Actually, when I say many people, I mean this establishment that I am married into.”

Diana also famously quipped that “there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded,” describing her ex-husband’s years-long affair with Camilla.
