India – a champion of trans’ rights – shared a news story about “hatred” facing the trans community.

The ITV news headline was: “I’ve had people sending me videos of people being beheaded and telling me that I’m going to be next. It’s just absolutely hideous.”

India replied: “I’m currently under the protection of the Counter Terrorism Unit due to a credible death threat. Ridiculous.

“There is so much hate directed at the trans community – and it stems from the Gov and Brit media (not itv).”

India became ITV’s first Transgender newsreader.

She has gone on to make appearances on Good Morning Britain and Loose Women.

India was in the 2018 series of Celebrity Big Brother alongside Ann Widdecombe and Rachel Johnson.

She lasted just 11 days, finishing in 16th place.

The Counter Terrorism Unit is a collaboration of UK police forces working with the UK intelligence community to “help protect the public and national security by preventing, deterring and investigating terrorist activity”.

After revealing her death threat, India wrote on Twitter: “I’m very flattered by the 100s of anonymous TERFs who’ve followed me in the last 24 hours. The swarm has landed.”

A TERF is used to describe a person whose views on gender identity are considered hostile to transgender people.
