One of the surviving roommates in the University of Idaho quadruple murders has reportedly agreed to meet with the accused killer’s council, after previously trying to block the meeting.

NewsNation Now reports that Bethany Funke has agreed to a sit-down meeting with Bryan Kohberger’s legal team in Reno, Nevada, where she now lives.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, an affidavit filed in March by the defense says that roommate Funke was in a first-floor bedroom of the house where the students lived during the murders, and was “interviewed by police on several occasions.”

Funke was subsequently subpoenaed to return to Idaho to testify but her attorney filed a motion to quash the subpoena.

Kohberger is behind bars for the murders of Madison Mogen, Kaylee Goncalves, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin. All four students were found stabbed dead in their off-campus rental near the school in November 2022.

The subpoena was issued on April 11 but Funke’s lawyer tried to block it 10 days later, claiming that it was “improperly issued.” It’s unclear why she has now agreed to the meeting.

“There is no authority for an Idaho criminal defendant to summon a Nevada witness to Idaho for preliminary hearing,” Funke’s attorney previously said. “There is also no authority for an Idaho criminal defendant to summon a Nevada witness to an Idaho matter without a hearing.”

Kohberger’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 26 at 9 a.m.
