Prince Harry and King Charles appear to take step forward in strained relationship

Prince Harry will officially attend King Charles III’s coronation, after months of uncertainty, in what appears to be a step forward for the father and son’s relationship.

On Saturday, May 6, 2023, King Charles III will officially be crowned in Westminster Abbey in London in a service that will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury. The coronation will be attended by Prince William, Kate Middleton, and the Wales children, as well as members of royal families from around the globe.

Prince Harry will be in attendance after he previously stepped down from senior royal duties and published his tell-all memoir Spare, causing a major rift between himself and his family.

Things seem to be looking up however between the King and his second son, as the two have reportedly engaged in some “positive conversations.”

Prince Harry to attend coronation without Meghan and the Sussex children

On Wednesday, April 12, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Harry would be attending King Charles and Camilla, Queen Consort’s coronation on May 6.

However, his wife Meghan Markle, and their two children Prince Archie, 3, and Princess Lilibet, 1, will stay in California.

May 6 also marks Prince Archie’s fourth birthday, which he will celebrate across the pond on the day of the coronation.

King Charles and Harry had ‘heart to heart’ ahead of coronation announcement

Prince Harry reportedly approached his father for a “heart-to-heart” before agreeing to attend the historic event.

As reported by The Telegraph, a friend of the couple said that there had been some “positive conversations” between King Charles and Harry, who did not want to miss the “immensely important” moment.

However, no such improvements or conversations appear to have been made between Harry and his older brother Prince William.

Royal expert claims Harry will not be ‘in the cheap seats’

Discussions over Harry’s role, where he will sit, and security arrangements for the upcoming coronation have reportedly been like “transatlantic ping pong,” LBC reports.

Some reports have claimed he will take a back seat on the day, so as not to distract from the coronation. However, one royal expert believes this will not be the case.

Robert Jobson, author of Our King Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, said in an interview: “I don’t think he’ll be in ‘the cheap seats’, no. If you’re a mum or a dad, we know that we all love our kids equally whoever they are, wherever they’ve dumped you.”

Jobson added that Charles “refers to his son Harry as my darling boy and has done that all the way.”
