A Pennsylvania mother and school teacher was shot to death in the drive-thru lane of a Cheltenham Township Dunkin’ Tuesday morning, while he 11-year-old son watched from the back seat.
Rachel King’s son was not hurt in the shooting, WTXF reported.
The station said that King, 35, had taught for more than a decade at Grover Cleveland Elementary School.
Investigators said King was traveling west on Cheltenham Avenue just after 7:30 Tuesday morning and turned into the Dunkin’ drive-thru lane. Very soon, a light-colored sedan — possibly a Ford or Mercury — pulled in and parked a short distance away.
A man got out and walked up to King’s vehicle, firing multiple shots through the driver’s side window, police said. He got back into his car and fled east on Cheltenham Avenue.
“This appears to be a targeted murder of a mother,” Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele said. “Anyone with information about this vehicle or the driver is asked to call police and help us find whoever committed this heinous murder.”

Mastery Charter Schools, which operates Grover Cleveland Elementary, issued a statement acknowledging King’s death.
“We send our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones,” the statement said. “We are devastated by the loss of an extraordinary teacher, who spent the last 10 years working with our students and their families.”
King’s boyfriend told WPVI she was taking her son to violin practice when she was shot.
Investigators released photographs of the vehicle the man was driving.
