Sheffield United fans should feel hard done by after the EFL made an announcement earlier on Tuesday.
What’s the story?
Well, it’s that time of the season when those throughout the English Football League are recognised for their hard work throughout the campaign – however, Sheffield United are nowhere to be seen.
Despite the fact Paul Heckingbottom has guided the Blades to second place in the Championship as well as the FA Cup Semi-Final, he has not been nominated for Manager of the Season.
None of the Sheffield United squad are up for the Player of the Season either.

That is despite the fact Iliman Ndiaye has been one of the best players in England’s second tier this term with 12 goals and seven assists to his name.
Sheffield United didn’t even get a name on the Championship Young Player of the Year award shortlist, as Amad Diallo, Alex Scott and Hayden Hackney were shortlisted – James McAtee can feel slightly hard done by.

Sheffield United a victim of expectation
Having only recently been relegated from the Premier League back in 2021, Sheffield United are still receiving their parachute payments, which are sent across three years to help soften the revenue blow of dropping down a division.
As a result, many are presumably looking at the Blades and their results with the mindset of it being nothing more than they should be achieving.
Despite that, those at Bramall Lane are still working hard, and the fact they were recently relegated from the Premier League should not be used as a stick to beat them with – in truth, many helping the Blades right now were not responsible for the relegation.
Nevertheless, Sheffield United will hopefully use their EFL snub as motivation to have a strong end to the campaign.
