An 8-week-old puppy is recovering after being tossed out of a moving vehicle during a police pursuit in Los Angeles last week.
Los Angeles police were chasing a suspect on Friday wanted in connection with an attempted murder and carjacking late last month, the department said.
The puppy, in a designer handbag, was tossed from the fleeing vehicle and rescued by officers. The mixed breed baby with one blue and one brown eye is now in the care of South LA Animal Services while investigators search for its rightful owner and is not currently available for adoption.
“All is well as you can see — this little puppy’s doing just fine, and we just wanted to be able to let all your viewers know that all is well,” animal care technician supervisor Matthew Spease told KTTV while showing off the baby.

The two-hour, high-speed chase — which included one vehicle crash and the suspect jumping out of the truck he was originally driving and into a second getaway vehicle — concluded with the arrest of three people: the suspect, 27-year-old Gustavo Alvarez; and Lynette Moreno, 27, who set up the second vehicle, and Michelle Zamudio, 25, who drove it. Moreno was charged with accessory to evading and held on a $67,500 bail, and Zamudio was charged with evading and held on a $75,000 bail.
Alvarez, charged with attempted murder, was denied bond.
