A claim has been made that Borussia Dortmund are currently beating Arsenal in the transfer chase to sign Ivan Fresneda.
Last Tuesday, the Celta Vigo right-back himself admitted that he was ‘proud’ that Mikel Arteta’s side were interested in him, while revealing that he was taking English lessons.
While Arsenal have been linked with the potential transfer of Ivan Fresenda for a number of months, it seems like Borussia Dortmund could pip them to his signing.

The 18-year-old is rightly classed as one of the most gifted young defenders in the entirety of Europe.
Whilst being technically gifted and a threat going forward, Fresneda is capable of operating in an inverted role which Arteta favours, whilst being defensively solid as well.
Unfortunately for Arsenal, a report by Mais Futebol mentioned that when Sporting CP approached Celta Vigo in the hopes of completing a transfer for Ivan Fresneda, they were told that Borussia Dortmund were already in ‘advanced negotiations.’

In addition, it has been stated that while the Gunners remain interested in the Spaniard, Edin Terzic’s side are expected to get the deal over the line.

Considering how young Fresneda is as well as his ability to be deployed in the middle of the park and thrive, it is a shame that Borussia Dortmund and Arsenal may end up pulling off a transfer for him.
As impressive as Ben White has been this season, his natural position remains at centre-back and the highly-rated starlet is most certainly an upgrade on him going forward.
With Cedric Soares currently on loan at Fulham and expected to leave at the end of the season, perhaps the Englishman could have been shifted to centre-half, with Ivan Fresneda competing with Takehiro Tomiyasu for a starting place.
But that now seems unlikely based on the speculation.
