About 11.15pm yesterday, emergency services responded to reports that a vehicle had crashed into a pole and then deflected down an embankment into a water channel onto its roof , near Leeton, about 550km west of Sydney.

All four occupants of the vehicle died at the scene – at the intersection of Research Road and Toorak Road, Yanco, – before emergency services arrived.

The death have not been formally identified but are believed to be a 36-year-old woman and three boys aged 10, 11 and 12 who are all related to one another.

Police have established a crime scene that will be examined by specialist officers.
