Shakira has reportedly fled her Barcelona home after being served an eviction notice by the father of her ex-partner Gerard Piqué.
The former athlete’s dad, Joan Piqué, sent Shakira an email on March 13 asking her to vacate the former couple’s home by April 30 or pay compensation, local news outlets claimed (via The Mirror).
The 46-year-old “Waka Waka” singer, who shares two sons with Gerard, bid her home in Spain farewell with an emotional Instagram message Sunday.
“I settled in Barcelona to give my children stability, the same that we are now looking for in another corner of the world next to family, friends and the sea,” she wrote in a post translated from Spanish to English.
“Today we begin a new chapter in the search for your happiness.”
The pop star thanked those who made her time in Barcelona so special, calling it the city where she learned “friendship is undoubtedly longer than love.”
She concluded, “Thanks to everyone who encouraged me there, dried my tears, inspired me and made me grow. Thanks to my Spanish audience who have always covered me with their love and loyalty.”
Shakira was spotted looking emotional at a Barcelona airport with her children, Milan, 10, and Sasha, 8, as they left the city with their belongings over the weekend.
The singer, who lived in the Barcelona home with her family for eight years, has reportedly moved to Miami.
