Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Jesper Lindstrom this summer.
The Reds are likely to be in the market for midfield options this summer and a host of names have been touted.
Most are box-to-box or holding players rather than attacking midfielders or even wide players.
However, Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Liverpool made contact to try and sign Frankfurt star Lindstrom.
Plettenberg claims that Liverpool are ‘highly interested’ in luring Lindstrom to Anfield this summer.
Liverpool have spoken to Frankfurt about a deal which could reach €50million (£44million).
That’s Frankfurt’s ideal price but that could be haggled down to around €35million to €40million (£31million to £35million).
Plettenberg adds that the ‘poker’ between Liverpool and Arsenal has now started with both chasing Lindstrom’s signature.

Sport1 reported just a few days ago that Arsenal had opened talks to sign Lindstrom.

The price tag mentioned then was €30million (£26million) but it looks like he will be much more expensive.
Arsenal have liked Lindstrom for years now but Liverpool are rivalling them in the race.
Capable of play as a number 10 or on either flank, Lindstrom could be a versatile attacking weapon for Jurgen Klopp.
Hailed as a ‘huge talent’ by teammate Kevin Trapp, Lindstrom has racked up seven goals and two assists in 22 Bundesliga games this season.
Beating Arsenal could be a big challenge for Liverpool if they win the Premier League title, but they do have one big selling point.
Lindstrom indicated in 2022 that he has always been a Liverpool fan and would love to play for the Reds one day.
If Liverpool do come calling for Lindstrom this summer, it would be hard for him to turn them down to go elsewhere.
