Let’s meet San Diego Aztecs head coach Brian Dutcher’s wife Janet and their family ahead of the Aztecs’ Final Four game vs the Owls.
The Final Four of this year’s NCAA Tournament is almost here. In the first game of the day the No.9 seed Florida Atlantic Owls take on No.5 seed San Diego Aztecs.
San Diego is the first Mountain West Conference team to advance this far during March Madness. It is their first Final Four appearance in school history.
In the Sweet Sixteen Round they caused a huge upset, knocking off top seed Alabama. Then, in the Elite Eight, they narrowly made it past Creighton 57-56.
Head coach Brian Dutcher coaching career
The Aztecs are led by Brian Dutcher. Dutcher is in his sixth season as the Aztecs’ head coach after 27 years assisting Steve Fisher at Michigan and San Diego State.
Dutcher is credited with recruiting the Fab Five to Michigan back during his Wolverines days, and for bringing NBA star Kawhi Leonard to San Diego State – arguably the most famous former Aztec.
Dutcher, who is the son of Jim Dutcher, a former head coach at Eastern Michigan and Minnesota, has enjoyed huge success in his five years at the helm in San Diego. He is the only coach in the 101-year history of San Diego State men’s basketball to win at least 20 games in each of his first five seasons. Furthermore, his .748-win percentage (119-40) entering the 2022-23 season is the best in program history.

What we know about Brian Dutcher’s wife and family
Brian Dutcher’s wife is Janet Dutcher, who was born Janet Sue Braamse on October 31, 1959. Janet and Brian met at the University of Minnesota and tied the knot on August 4, 1984.
Janet is a talented artist and designer, and their family home together is reportedly decorated by her.
The couple stay mostly out of the spotlight but Janet is on Facebook where she has shared several photos with husband Brian:
The couple have two daughters
Brian and Janet Dutcher have two daughters, Erin and Liza Dutcher. Erin is the eldest and was born in 1988 and attended San Diego State University from 2006 to 2011. She worked for the San Diego Seals lacrosse team as their Operations Specialist from October 2017 to March 2020.
Erin Dutcher was also a client service coordinator at Fox and a recruiter at Insight Global.
Liza Dutcher was born in October 1990, and married her husband, Adam Meltz, on October 2, 2022. They lived together in San Diego.
