'Huge moment': BBC pundit blown away by 'very cool' £45m Arsenal ace in Leeds victory

BBC pundit Pat Nevin was extremely complimentary about Gabriel Jesus after his composed penalty to give Arsenal the lead in their 4-1 victory against Leeds United.

The £45 million (Sky Sports) man has made an emphatic return from injury recently, now scoring a brace in a crucial contest after Manchester City thrashed Liverpool 4-1 themselves.

However, BBC pundit Pat Nevin was especially impressed by how ice-cool Gabriel Jesus’ spot-kick was against Leeds United.

BBC pundit Pat Nevin raves about Gabriel Jesus as Arsenal beat Leeds

Initially, it seemed like Javi Gracia and Co. were looking to frustrated Mikel Arteta’s side, who had chosen to bench Bukayo Saka after the international break.

The visitors played on the front foot, giving the hosts’ defence a headache while also managing to keep things tight at the back.

But Gabriel Jesus decided to be the difference-maker for Arsenal against Leeds, winning the penalty in style with his sumptuous dribbling before converting it coolly, which drew praise from pundit Pat Nevin.

“That’s a huge moment for Arsenal and Jesus himself! When Arsenal looked slightly under the cosh, that was a very cool penalty just stroking it down the middle. That’s a bit of a relief for Arsenal”, he said on BBC Sport.

Gabriel Jesus’ return is so key for the Gunners

As Eddie Nketiah and Leandro Trossard’s incredible impact for the side has been widely recognised since the World Cup, many have questioned whether the Brazilian international would even get into the league leaders’ XI after returning from injury.

But as pundit Pat Nevin said, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus showed his class and winning mentality to step up to take the penalty and dispatch it against Leeds.

Ultimately, Jesus’ experience, quality and just how much he improves those around him will be key for the Gunners in the title run-in.
