Even without key players Whoopi Goldberg and Alyssa Farah Griffin, The View still celebrated the indictment of former president Donald Trump on Friday’s show. Joy Behar opened the episode by referencing the “landmark day for the American legal system and a vindication of the rule of law,” before playing a clip of Gwyneth Paltrow winning her ski lawsuit.
Jokes aside, Behar got right down to business tackling the news of Trump’s historic indictment, which broke Thursday (March 30) evening. The one-term POTUS was indicted by a Manhattan grand jury on more than 30 counts of fraud; he is expected in court on Tuesday (April 4).
Sunny Hostin was bubbling with excitement over the news, proclaiming, “I called it!” before one of her co-hosts shouted, “We feel good!”
Hostin added, “I said he would be held criminally responsible because no one is above the law,” and later noted, “You can’t commit so many crimes and think that you are above the law even if you are the president. … It’s a celebration of the law and how it applies to all of us.”
Still, she warned we shouldn’t “get too far ahead of ourselves,” reminding the panel, “the charges have been sealed.”

Ana Navarro chimed in to thank the special grand jury in Trump’s case, saying, “They have been meeting for weeks and weeks, they’ve done this incredibly seriously. … These are regular New Yorkers. These are not people with a political agenda.”
She then joked, “Donald Trump finally won a popular vote yesterday,” before striking a more serious tone and describing the indictment as the “strengthening of democracy and the justice system.”
Behar chimed in, too, thinking of Trump’s opponent in the 2016 presidential race, Hillary Clinton. Behar quipped, “I hope she’s enjoying this!”
