Is Blue Lock episode 25 releasing this weekend, or has the final whistle finally blown on the popular sports anime’s first season?
The global interest in sports anime series has been slowly dipping for the past few years, notably following the conclusion of the classic Haikyuu franchise.
Thankfully, Blue Lock has not only appeared to revitalize the genre, but has gone on to become one of the best sports anime ever produced; going mainstream in partial thanks to Japan’s performance at the FIFA World Cup last year.
However, fans are now looking ahead to the future, with many wondering whether or not Blue Lock episode 25 is set to release this weekend – here is everything that viewers need to know.
Is Blue Lock episode 25 releasing this weekend?
No, Blue Lock episode 25 is sadly not releasing this weekend on April 1, as many fans may have expected.
This is because season 1, which debuted all the way back in October 2022, finally reached its conclusion last week with the premiere of episode 24 ‘The Time Has Come’ on March 25.
The good news is that only a matter of minutes after the episode 24 finale aired for domestic audiences in Japan, the Blue Lock anime was not only renewed for season 2 but a spin-off film was also announced.
“The second season of the “Blue Rock TV series” and “Blue Rock the Movie -EPIOSODE Nagi” will be produced! The second season of the TV series will focus on the main character, Seiichi Kiyoshi, and the new battle between the egoists who aim to become the world’s number one striker.”
A preview trailer for season 2 was shared on YouTube with the Blue Lock website noting, “Instead of the body suit he has been wearing up until now, Kiyoshi is now wearing a uniform for the game. What kind of battles await these egoists in the future? Please wait for further news.”

Interestingly, there are already rumors online that the return of the Blue Lock anime will happen sooner than expected. Popular anime leaker SugoiLITE recently posted that both the second TV anime season and the spin-off theatrical movie will both release in 2024 – this has not yet been confirmed by an official source.
HITC predicts that Blue Lock season 2 will premiere in April 2024 on the Spring slate.
Episode Nagi spin-off movie also confirmed
In addition to season 2 of the Blue Lock anime being confirmed to be in production, fans celebrated news that the Episode Nagi spin-off manga would be receiving a theatrical anime production.
The Blue Lock Fandom page describes the Episode Nagi spin-off as:
“Seishiro Nagi, a second-year high school student. A boy who has a habit of saying “Troublesome” lived his days lethargically. Until he finds his talent in the striker training dormitory “Blue Prison” aiming to win the Japanese soccer World Cup and his partner Reo Mikage.”
At the time of writing, the Episode Nagi spin-off manga has published two complete Tankobon volumes in Japan – unfortunately, we are still waiting for an English release.
18 of the 23 main series manga volumes have been published in English through Kodansha USA; available in both physical and digital formats from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, BAM, Penguin Random House, Apple iBooks, Google Play, Kobo, and MyAnimeList.
