Report shares bizarre thing Conte did to Under-21 players at Tottenham before he was sacked

A detailed report on Fabio Paratici has now revealed one bizarre thing Antonio Conte did at Tottenham before he was sacked.

What’s the story?

Well – according to Football London – the Italian’s presence at Spurs was difficult for those in the academy, not least because he used to actively disrupt their plans.

It is said that Conte would often drag Under-21 players out of their training sessions at the last minute, or even before an official youth match, just so they could take up a static position in one of his drills.

In our view, that is ridiculous from the 53-year-old.

Imagine spending all week preparing for a Premier League 2 clash at Hotspur Way, only to then be hauled away from the side to basically act as a statue in a Conte drill.

Only Harvey White was given a debut under the Italian during his time in charge in terms of academy players, and it is no wonder that hardly any Under-21 prospects broke into the first-team if that’s how they were treated.

Football London add that some within the academy claim the gap between the first-team and the development squad had never been wider than it was under Conte.

Tottenham should have sacked Conte ages ago

In our view, the sacking of Conte came far too late – it was clear to many that he was not the right fit for Tottenham.

Spurs pride themselves on developing their own – such as Harry Kane – and having a manager at the helm who isn’t afraid to give youngsters opportunities in a system focused on attacking, like Mauricio Pochettino.

Conte was the polar opposite of that, and he never even seemed happy or proud to be in N17 – the bare minimum you would expect of someone as well paid as he was.

Hopefully, Daniel Levy finds someone more suitable to replace him – although after his other recent managerial appointments in Nuno Espirito Santo and Jose Mourinho, we don’t have much faith.
