Emerging reports indicated that a New York grand jury voted to indict former president Donald Trump for paying hush money to a porn star during his 2016 presidential campaign.
The New York Times reported that the indictment will likely be announced in the coming days. However, prosecutors working under Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg would have already requested Trump, 76, surrender to authorities and face arraignment.
At this point, it is unclear what charges Trump is facing. However, Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, has alleged that Trump ordered him to pay off porn star Stormy Daniels and that Trump later repaid him while participating in a coverup.
The New York Times noted that Trump is the first former or sitting U.S. president to be indicted.
