The iconic Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World anime adaptation has been officially renewed for season 3 at Anime Japan 2023.
It may seem like every second anime these days is an Isekai series, i.e., a reincarnation into another world-type show.
However, one of the most popular and recognizable Isekai anime of all time remains Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World; an outstanding series with some of the most well-crafted time travel-based plotlines out there.
Excellent news for fans of this genre-defining anime, Re:Zero has finally been renewed for season 3!
Re:Zero season 3 officially confirmed in new trailer
Anime Japan 2023 has kicked off with a bang; confirmation that season 3 of the Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World anime adaptation is now in the works.
A targeted release date for Re:Zero season 3 remains TBA, but is expected to premiere in either January 2024 on the Winter slate or April 2024 on the Spring slate.
Alongside the announcement, a new preview trailer was shared to the Kadokawa Anime YouTube channel, with the main voice cast sharing congratulatory comments to the series’ Twitter page:
Yusuke Kobayashi, the voice of Subaru, commented: “Thank you for the decision on the Re-Zero 3rd season! The bond between the Emilia camp has become stronger, Subaru will surely feel more at ease with more reliable allies…I don’t believe that in the slightest! I’m sure he’ll face even more hell. But I’ve always been prepared for it! Let’s resist destiny!”
Emilia’s Rie Takahashi shared how “This is a personal story, but I have always found RIZERO to be a source of inspiration for my own problems and growth. I’ve always had Risero [Re:Zero] by my side when it comes to my own problems and opportunities for growth.”

“By facing this season’s Risero [Re:Zero], I can’t help but wonder what kind of days await me in the future. I can’t help but be excited about what days await me in the future. I hope that Emilia, who has become more powerful in the 2nd season, will not lose to me. I will put all of my long-cherished hopes into this challenge so that I won’t lose to the more powerful Emilia in the 2nd season!”
Inori Minase, voice actress for Rem, said “Congratulations to all the fans who have been waiting for it! To all the fans who have been waiting for it, and to all the people who have been working hard to make it happen and all the staff who worked so hard towards the decision to produce.”
“The sequel is the result of the hard work and dedication of all the staff who worked so hard towards the decision to produce it! Victory! Your brains must be shaking with this devilish news! I’m sure your brains are shaking too! By the way, you remember me, don’t you?”
New Re:Zero smartphone game also announced
Alongside confirmation of Re:Zero season 3 going into production, it was also revealed that a new smartphone game would be in the hands of fans in the near future.
The new game will be titled ‘Witch’s Re:surrection” and will be available on iOS and Android devices.
“A new official game will be produced to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the publication of the popular novel “Re: Zero kara Hajimete Isekai Seikatsu”! Under the supervision of the original author, Tatsuhei Nagatsuki, a new story based on the theme of Witch’s Re:surrection will be depicted. Enjoy a full-fledged RPG on a vast field with the characters from Re-Zero!”
Sadly, a release date for the upcoming Re:Zero smartphone game has not been shared, although the preview trailer did include confirmation that it will be a 3D RPG title under the tagline: “Collect, search, fight–To a new otherworldly life! With friends!”
